WINMALEE BUSHFIRES
On the 17/10/2013 a large bushfire started at the back of Springwood Golf Coarse in the Blue Mountains, NSW.
It started by electricity cables pushed into trees during strong winds on a 33deg day.
I could hear sirens when i had to go pick up my kids from school around 2.30pm. I got about half way when chaos broke out and i was stuck in the middle of things.
Thankfully i picked up my camera when leaving and managed to photograph what was going on around me.
The road was cut in half by fire that wiped out around 100 houses, thankfully the no lives were lost.
The fire lasted for nearly 2 weeks.
Camera used was my Nikon L310.
After 2 hours, a relative collected my kids (road blocked) and i decided to head home and pack for evacuation if need be.
Below is what i saw from my back yard.

SPIRIT IN THE SKY
This photo was taken during the recent Winmalee fires 2013.
My niece was taking photos of the smoke, helicopters etc, but when she looked at the photos, we saw what looks to be an aboriginal elder in the smoke haze....What do you think?
The aboriginals were owners of the land before white settlement and lots of burial sites are located in the Blue Mountains.
The photo looks better from a distance (stand back a bit).....
